Rick held a 100 ton captain’s license and worked in the marine industry for a number of years. In the mid 90’s he moved on land and gave up his dream of life on the sea.
Lynn day sailed a few times, but never overnight. She loves the sense of adventure and being active.
They met accidentally on the internet in 1996. Slowly and steadily Rick shared his love of the sea. As Lynn’s interest in sailing grew, Rick’s dream was rekindled.
Rick was already a member of the Take Her Sailing (THS) group and Lynn joined to learn more about sailing. This was a very small group, and very experienced. They answered Lynn’s many questions, offered suggestions, and reassured her that cruising was safer than driving on the freeways.
Tigger, our 20 pound cat, adjusted to life on the sea after 11 years on land. In 2009 he became very ill and passed away in La Paz, Baja Sur, Mexico. We miss him very much.
When we bought La Vita she had an 18 year old VHF radio and nothing else. We lived on La Vita while all the equipment was installed. This is an experience that must be experienced to be believed. Months were spent in various boatyards, both in San Diego, CA and Ensenada, Mexico. At some point, the work we’ve done and what we learned will be documented on our Tech page.
