Lynn’s Birthday Celebration

Yup, it’s birthday time for Lynn, again. This one is filled with surprises. [simage=1215,200,y,center,] First off, breakfast at Ikuai, the marina restaurant. I order Eggs Benedict and it is free! A gift from the Ikuai restaurant, waiters, and staff.

Most Mexicans give each other a “second” name or “nickname.” For example, the waiters at the restaurant are: Raul (Splinter), Angel (Mini), and Angel (Jefe or Gordo). Yes, there are two Angels working at the Ikuai Restaurant.

In the afternoon, we play Mexican Train Dominoes. I have the lowest score, which makes me the winner, and the prize is a free Margarita! [simage=1217,200,y,center,]

That evening, there is fabulous Cruiser’s Pot Luck organized by Allison (s/v KENTA ANAE) and Kat (s/v KATRINA LIANA) in celebration of Canadian Thanksgiving; October babies (at least four, maybe more!); and surviving two hurricanes (Jova and Irwin).

The highlight of the evening is music by Mango Duo!

And meeting Zoe’s mom, Pauline.

Some may remember my 2010 birthday gift. I was presented with a new toilet. For the rest of that story see Lynn’s Birthday Celebration!

This year’s 2011 Birthday “DYI” project is to clean the port fans! Up until now, cleaning them was a task that one gritted their teeth before tackling the job. The guards made it nearly impossible to reach the blades. The fans were never cleaned to our satisfaction.

I contact HotWire and they share the secret for removing the guards! With the guards off, it is easy to wipe the blades. HotWire also said it’s OK to leave the front guard off.

With the front guard off we get an unexpected bonus. More air movement by the blades and they are quieter!

Kids Club members wishing CANADA a VERY HAPPY THANKSGIVING!

It seems this birthday girl didn’t get a decent picture taken of her on her special day. So here’s a picture of Rick and Lynn during their Thursday Dance Lesson class. Mel on s/v HEMISPHERE DANCER is our fabulous meringue, rhumba, and cha-cha-cha dance instructor.

    Hi Dena and Jr.
Well, if you look real close, in one of the pictures you’ll see the side of my face. I’m wearing a pink shirt. That is the only picture I could find of the Birthday Girl! Amazing!

    Happy Birthday!
By the way, where are you? The latest position given on your track was in March 2011 in La Cruz. Are you still there?
And PLEASE get someone to take a good picture of the birthday girl and her consort.
We wish that we were still down there sailing around with you guys, but alas, we can’t for a while. So we’ll be satisfied reading your blog instead ofenjoying sailing with you.

  4. Lynn on October 24th, 2011 at 10:30 am

We are still in Marina La Cruz.

Do to popular request, I’ve added a picture of Rick and me at the end of the post. I was just as surprised to discover I didn’t have picture, either!

We hope you get back to the sailing you love real soon!

Happy Birthday, Lynn! The pictures of you all playing Mexican Train Dominoes made me homesick for the Sea. We have the game here, but no takers. Oh, for those lovely days at anchor. Be blessed, both of you.

Hi Normandie, Remember playing Mexican Train Dominoes in different places, and the rules are always different! Makes for interesting negations. Great game! Lynn

Hi Lucy and Jim, We wish Jim a very speedy recovery. Glad the surgery is minor. Yep, my birthday was super fun. I was hoping for BBQ ribs and that didn’t happen. So, I’ve decided my birthday lasts until I get the ribs! (LOL). Lynn
