Ultimately, Rick shifted his interest to writing. He enrolled in the Story Plan Intensive course followed by the First Draft and Final Draft programs. While taking Kevin’s courses, Rick discovered he loves to write. During the editing phase, Rick hit a difficult stumbling block. Author: SUSAN APPLEYARD

A common question to authors is, Why did you start writing? I’m glad you asked. It all began long, long ago when I was seventeen, taking driving lessons and desperate to get my own car. What I needed was a quick way of making a lot of money. I did consider robbing a bank but quickly rejected that idea.

I had always been good at writing stories in school so the notion of writing a book popped into my head and I was smitten. My first attempts – need I say – were pretty pathetic, but then somewhere along the way, I found my niche: historical fiction. Visit Susan’s website

Author: SHERILYN DECTER

The Roaring Twenties and Prohibition were a fantasy land, coming right after the horrors and social upheaval of World War I. Even a century later, it all seems so exotic.

Women got the vote, started working outside the home, and (horrors!) smoked and drank in public places.

Flappers were dancing, beads and fringes flying.

Sherilyn is writing a series of historical crime fiction novels dealing with the bootleggers, gangsters, flappers, and general lawlessness that defined Prohibition. Visit Sherilyn’s website
