IWSG September 2, 2020: Beta Partner

It’s the first Wednesday of the month and that means Insecure Writer’s Support Group (IWSG) is enjoying its monthly blog fest invented by Alex J. Cavanaugh. IWSG is a safe haven for insecure writers of all kinds.

The awesome co-hosts for the September 2 posting of the IWSG are PJ Colando J Lenni Dorner Deniz Bevan, Kim Lajevardi, Natalie Aguirre, and Louise – Fundy Blue!

QUESTION: If you could choose one author, living or dead, to be your beta partner, who would it be and why?

MY ANSWER:  Joylene Butler The first thing this author did was give my imagination permission to soar. Next she showed me how to breath life into my stories. The rest is up to me: write, write, write.

Question: How did you expand your vocabulary?

Thank you for your time. I look forward to visiting your blog, too.

  1. Great question! By reading! But I don’t always look up words that are new to me. So I feel like I can understand them in context, but then can’t always use them myself. I need to start reading the dictionary more often, like I used to when I was younger!

    1. Hi denizbee,
You answer reminded me of the importance of the thesaurus. Now the question is does that make a writer lazy?
Thank you for visiting and taking a moment to comment.

    1. Hi Joy,
Oh, I saw that red glow just south of here. LOL
Thanks for introducing me to the group and giving me permission to freely use my imagination.
I appreciate the time you took to visit and blush.

  2. Hi, Lynn! Joylene would be awesome as a Beta reader! Her own writing is wonderful! My father expanded my vocabulary. He was a word guru, and some of my earliest memories are of him giving me language and word lessons. By third grade I knew better than to ask him the meaning of a word, because he would tell me to look it up in the dictionary. To this day I am constantly looking words up because I want to know their precise meanings. I hope you are having a fun IWSG Day!

    1. Hi Louise,
Joylene is so busy, I’m grateful she can comment on my 500 word blog posts. Sometimes, one person can make such a difference. I loved the story of you and your father. I’m especially impressed your didn’t rebel, but endorsed his habit of checking the dictionary.
Thank you for visiting and co-hostng our September IWSG blog hop.

  3. Hi everyone , I’m Leticia.
Welcome to my homepage . I started writing in high school after a creative writing assignment for my English teacher. I did creative writing for several months before I thought about doing something else.
I had always loved doing research assignments because I’m passionate about learning. When you combine writing ability with a love of learning, academic writing only makes sense as a job.
I’m passionate about aiding the students of the future in their school career. When they get too busy, I am there to help.
