IWSG July 7: Quit Writing?

It’s the first Wednesday of the month and that means Insecure Writer’s Support Group (IWSG) is enjoying its monthly blog fest invented by Alex J. Cavanaugh. IWSG is a safe haven for insecure writers of all kinds.

The awesome co-hosts for the July 7 posting of the IWSG are: Pat Garcia, Victoria Marie Lees, Chemist Ken, and Louise – Fundy Blue!

QUESTION: What would make you quit writing?

ANSWER: For the first time I’m stuck. As a member of IWSG since Jan 6, 2015, I’ve always been able to answer the question. As long as I have a pencil, piece of paper, and a brain I will write.

Thank you for visiting. I’m curious to read your answer.

  1. Hi,
I think you have given a great answer that comes directly from your heart. You will write as long as you have paper and a brain. Let’s hope that paper is always available and that your brain is always alive and well.
Take care my friend and keep writing.

    Shalom aleichem,

    1. Hi Pat,
Isn’t it interesting the need/desire to write is almost an addiction? A positive addiction, I might add.

Thanks for co-hosting IWSG this month.

    1. Hey fellow addicted-writer!
After reading several comments, I’d say we are part of a large and driven group.
Thanks for visiting and co-hosting IWSG this month.

  2. I know I’ll enjoy writing forever, but I can’t guarantee life won’t make it possible for me to keep writing one day. I hop that day never comes.

    Thanks for co-hosting this month.

    1. Hi Ken,
Looking back, life hasn’t offered me any guarantees either. And there are unexpected opportunities. I wish you smooth sailing with your editor and publisher. Thanks for co-hosting IWSG this month.

    1. I bet when something pulls you away, you are composing mentally. Have you noticed, sometimes these sparks of thought get pushed away for the next bright idea?

    1. Hi Nick,
I often wonder what triggers the urge into action. One of the many mysteries of life.
Just ordered your Kindle version of Overcoming Adversity. Used my husband’s Amazon account to download to multiple devices.
I’m glad Alex introduced you to IWSG through his book review.
      And thanks for visiting.

    1. Hi Alex,
You are always welcome, early or late.
Thanks for introducing all of us to Nick Wilford. I just ordered Overcoming Adversity. Nick edited and published this fundraising collection.

  3. Bravo, Lynn, 2015! Wow! Really! Yes, I’m a pencil and paper type of person, too. You should see my desk…with all these notes and scraps of paper and small notebooks. Now, try and find things? Yikes! Have a beautiful weekend!

    1. Hi Victoria,
My Paper, pencil, notepads, pencils, pens, are constantly calling for attention. Then, they play hide and seek.

I’m a compulsive list maker and my To Do lists are the top if the ‘list.’
Strategy this week: Each To Do item goes on a pad that is physically smaller than my other scratch pads.
I’m not allowed to write any To Do item on the other larger pads.
Only acceptation is when I’m away from the house and then I use the notebook in my purse.
      Wish me luck!
Thanks for co-hosting this month’s IWSG and visiting.

  4. Thank you for your honesty. Yes, some months these questions smack us right in the face! Yet, you’re co-hosting AND writing despite the afterglow of the pandemic. Why would we stop writing when that very act of putting our words on paper gives us a sense of connectedness with ourselves, other writers, our readers, and the very world? So, in the immortal words of Rick Bylina, “Write on!”

    1. Hi Beth,
I’m reading “Overcoming Adversity,” an anthology of folks overcoming adversity. Edited and published by Nick Wilford. This collection truly connects us as readers and writers. These authors did, Write on!!”
      Thank you for visiting.
